Reviews

Cloudburst NOT waterproof.

"Just did a Metric Century. We had four hours of rain and I got pretty wet as well as my two friends who on my recommendation also purchased the same jacket. I'd been wearing it on lightly rainy days previously and had noticed that I got wet/damp. This time it was definitely noticeable that this jacket did not prevent water from coming through."

Disappointed

"I was disappointed with this jacket. The coat was a good fit, but I would not be comfortable wearing it. The inside lining with the pocket only goes up halfway and totally shows through when looking at the front of the jacket. It does not have a smooth appearance."

— Gayle Z. (2/5)

Showes Pass jackets are beyond

"Showes Pass jackets are beyond compare. They are perfect in every way. I use this as a layer piece. It's light yet warm and keeps me dry yet it also breathes. Seriously, they are the best at rain gear."

— Bike G. (5/5)

Best jacket yet!

"I have another Showers Pass rain jacket that is great for rain and cold, but this one is softer, also warm, and good for wearing over just a tee shirt since the inside feels peached. Love the orange color and big pockets too. I ordered the same size as my other style but had to return for the next larger size to the get roomier fit I prefer."

— Sue W. (5/5)

Worth the splurge

"Love my new Cloudburst jacket. Haven't worn it in rain yet but wore it for more protection in windy, cooler temps (50 degrees). It is lightweight, has deep pockets inside that hold my phone securely, and a nice zippered pocket in back. I am 5'2", 130 and the Med fits perfectly."

— Gerri (5/5)

Bright biking jacket

"Love the bright orange jacket. Breaks the wind and repels the rain."

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Cloudburst Bike Jacket is fully waterproof, not merely water-resistant. It uses a 3-layer, fully seam-taped PFAS-free fabric built for the most demanding riding conditions. The seam taping is what separates a true rain shell from a water-repellent wind jacket, because untaped seams let water in exactly where you don't want it. If you ride in sustained, soaking rain rather than the occasional light shower, the Cloudburst Bike Jacket is designed to keep you genuinely dry.

The Cloudburst Bike Jacket is made by Showers Pass with a new fabric engineered to keep a soft, flexible feel while still protecting fully from the elements. It carries an off-the-charts breathability rating, which matters because older rain shells often trapped sweat and felt stiff and rustling as you moved. The Cloudburst Bike Jacket is a real step up from the rain jackets of yesteryear, so riders who avoided rain shells because of that clammy, crinkly feel tend to find this one noticeably more comfortable.

The Cloudburst Bike Jacket is for riders who regularly face sustained, demanding wet weather and want genuine waterproofing rather than light repellency. Its 3-layer, fully seam-taped PFAS-free fabric handles heavy rain, while its off-the-charts breathability rating keeps it comfortable through real effort. If most of your riding involves committing to rides that will see serious rain, the Cloudburst Bike Jacket earns its place. Riders who only occasionally get caught in a passing shower may find it more jacket than they need.

Yes. Despite being a heavy-duty rain shell, the Cloudburst Bike Jacket packs down to fit inside its own back pocket. This matters because true waterproof jackets are often bulky and hard to stow, which leaves you either overheating or leaving the jacket at home. Because the Cloudburst Bike Jacket packs away, you can carry it when skies are uncertain and pull it out only when the weather turns, making it practical for rides where conditions might change.

The Cloudburst Bike Jacket is built to stay comfortable through harder efforts, not only casual spins. It uses a 3-layer eliteAIR 4-way stretch fabric that moves with you, and large core vents that double as mesh pockets to dump heat when you're working. That combination addresses the classic rain-jacket problem of feeling sealed in and overheated. Riders who push the pace in wet weather tend to appreciate that the Cloudburst Bike Jacket both stretches and breathes rather than fighting them on the climbs.

If most of your riding stays dry and you only occasionally meet light rain or chill, the Cloudburst Bike Jacket is likely more jacket than you need. It's a true heavy-duty, seam-taped waterproof shell built for sustained, demanding wet conditions. For brief showers and light wind, a packable wind shell such as the Mistral Packable Bike Jacket is lighter, stuffs easily into a jersey pocket, and suits that use better. Choose the Cloudburst Bike Jacket when real, lasting rain is a regular part of your riding.

The Cloudburst Bike Jacket is a Showers Pass shell using a 3-layer, fully seam-taped PFAS-free fabric with an off-the-charts breathability rating, designed for the most demanding wet conditions. It delivers genuine waterproofing without a GORE-TEX membrane. If you specifically want GORE-TEX construction, the Tempesta Lite Bike Jacket is the one to look at instead. Both target serious rain protection, so the decision comes down to whether GORE-TEX in particular matters to you or whether the Cloudburst Bike Jacket's fabric and breathability meet your needs.

Both the Cloudburst Bike Jacket and the Syncline CC Bike Jacket share Showers Pass rain-shell construction aimed at serious wet-weather protection. The Cloudburst Bike Jacket leads with its 3-layer, fully seam-taped PFAS-free fabric, stretch, and off-the-charts breathability for demanding road and spirited riding. The Syncline CC Bike Jacket offers that same waterproof pedigree with a mountain-trail heritage story, which some riders prefer for its background and intended context. If you want the trail-oriented version of the same waterproof approach, consider the Syncline CC Bike Jacket.

The Cloudburst Bike Jacket has a semi-fitted cut, which sits between a close race fit and a relaxed one. That gives room for a jersey or a light layer underneath while still being trim enough to avoid flapping in the wind at speed. Its 3-layer 4-way stretch fabric adds to the comfortable range of movement in the riding position. If you plan to layer a thermal jersey beneath it in colder rain, the semi-fitted cut of the Cloudburst Bike Jacket leaves sensible space to do so.
