Questions & Answers

Terry chamois are made with recycled-content, Bluesign-certified fabrics and engineered for moisture management. Most models rely on the fabric's inherent antimicrobial properties rather than an added coating or chemical treatment, with the Comfort chamois as the one exception that uses a treated fabric. This approach keeps the chamois effective at controlling bacteria without introducing extra chemicals against the skin.

The Flex collection is designed exclusively for women and includes six chamois models built for superior shape and fit. Soft wing construction removes foam and bulk at the inner thigh to reduce chafing, while four-way stretch and Elastic Interface® Technology let the chamois move with the body. Channeled microfiber fabric promotes airflow, and the line is crafted in Italy with a high recycled fiber content.

The main difference between Flex and Flex Air is breathability, not just cushioning. Flex is a solid foam chamois best suited to fall/winter riding and longer-length bottoms, where the extra warmth is welcome. Flex Air uses the same foam with added perforation for airflow -- chamois built with Elastic Interface technology traps heat, which turns into moisture and discomfort on longer or warmer rides, so the perforation is what actually solves that. That's why most of Terry's shorts use a perforated chamois -- Flex Air, Flex Air Lite, or Fleet Air -- while Flex is reserved for cooler-weather, longer-coverage pieces.

Flex Air Max is the thickest chamois in the Flex line at 14.5mm, using multi-density foam (60, 80, and 120kg/m³) to provide support across the ride's full range of motion. It's rated for comfort up to 7 hours, making it the best option in the collection for the longest days in the saddle.

Flex Air Lite uses the thinnest and lightest foam in the Flex collection, specifically designed to stay comfortable in hot temperatures. It's rated for about 3 hours of comfort, trading some cushioning and duration for better breathability and heat management.

The Fleet collection delivers reliable chamois comfort and performance at a more accessible price than the Flex line. It uses the same soft wing construction, four-way stretch, and Elastic Interface® Technology to reduce chafing and move with the body, paired with smooth, lightweight microfiber fabric and a high recycled fiber content. It's also crafted in Italy.

Flex and Fleet share the same core comfort technology, including soft wing construction and Elastic Interface® Technology, but differ in fabric finish and price. Flex uses channeled microfiber fabric optimized for airflow and offers longer comfort ratings, up to 7 hours in its Flex Air Max model, while Fleet uses smooth microfiber at a more accessible price point, with comfort ratings topping out around 3 hours.

The Minimalist collection is designed for riders who prefer less padding and coverage without sacrificing comfort. It ranges from reticulated multi-density foam technology to the barest essential fleece, using seamless, four-way stretch construction to deliver targeted support exactly where it's needed. Like Terry's other chamois lines, it's crafted in Italy.

Both are part of the Minimalist collection and use a shorter length, but they're built for different riding positions. The Urban chamois suits an upright riding position and offers about 4 hours of comfort, while the Comfort chamois is designed for a forward-leaning position with thicker foam (14mm) but a shorter 2-hour comfort rating.

The Slite chamois is Terry's thinnest option, at just 2.5mm of breathable open-cell foam. It uses a fabric with inherent antimicrobial properties and is rated for about 2 hours of comfort, making it best suited to shorter rides where minimal bulk matters more than extended cushioning.

Terry rates each chamois by the number of hours it's designed to stay comfortable, ranging from about 2 hours in minimal models like Slite and Minimalist up to 7 hours in the Flex Air Max. Matching the comfort rating to typical ride length is a useful starting point, alongside considering riding position and how much cushioning versus minimal bulk you prefer.

Most Terry chamois rely on the fabric's own inherent antimicrobial properties rather than an added chemical coating or treatment, which keeps the chamois effective at moisture and bacteria control without extra processing. The Comfort chamois is the one exception in the line that uses a treated fabric.
