Love these sunglasses

"These are the perfect mtn biking sunglasses for me! Love the coverage. I have a small head and these fit my head perfectly."

— Tamara N. (5/5)

Lightweight and works well

"I'll be ordering from you in the future"

— Allison M. (5/5)

Highly recommended!

"These glasses are light, effective, and affordable. Great for unpredictable weather: they lighten up for that sudden cloud-cover, and are dark enough for sunny days. Not quite as dark as heavy duty sunglasses, but I wore them for a week of biking in full sun and never had a problem. And I could read my Garmin through them!"

— Lisa K. (5/5)

Only one flaw

"These are beautifully wide view, lightweight and I love the way I can wear them early morning when it's dark on the way to work and they are clear enough to just protect my eyes from bugs and debris in the air. They are not polarized however - there can be a lot of glare and halos with them, and when cleaned the surface looks smeary."

— Stacywyn (4/5)

I have worn these glasses

"I have worn these glasses several times and like them very much."

— Rebecca F. (5/5)

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Rail XC Bike Sunglasses ships in two frame configurations, and the Fototec lens comes only with the Crystal Clear frame. The Crystal Smoke frame instead includes three interchangeable fixed-tint lenses: Clarion Blue, AC Red, and Clear. If a self-adjusting lens that automatically darkens and lightens with changing light is your deciding feature, confirm you're selecting the Crystal Clear frame. Choosing the Crystal Smoke frame means you'll manually swap lenses to match conditions rather than relying on photochromic adjustment.

The two Rail XC Bike Sunglasses frames differ entirely by lens technology. The Crystal Smoke frame includes three interchangeable lenses, letting you handpick the right tint before a ride for sun, overcast, or low-light conditions. The Crystal Clear frame instead ships with a single Fototec lens that rapidly darkens and lightens on its own as conditions change. Choose Crystal Smoke if you prefer control and don't mind swapping lenses, and Crystal Clear if you want to pack light and never pause to change lenses mid-ride.

The Rail XC Bike Sunglasses suit riders who move at speed across varied surfaces. Its super wide, rimless shield lens provides full peripheral coverage and strong airflow, protecting your eyes from hazards whether you're on the blacktop or under the pines. The lightweight Grilamid TR-90 frame keeps weight down for all-day comfort. If most of your riding mixes pavement and singletrack and you want one pair that handles both, the Rail XC is built for exactly that kind of versatility.

The Rail XC Bike Sunglasses measure 59.5mm by 131mm with a 121mm temple arm and weigh 32 grams. This is a wide, generous shield designed for full peripheral coverage and all-day wearability rather than a compact, minimal silhouette. The low weight keeps them comfortable over long rides, but if you prefer a smaller frame that sits closer to the face, a lighter and more compact option like the Rivet Sunglasses will feel more at home. Riders who like a full field of view tend to prefer the Rail XC's wider shield.

The Rail XC Bike Sunglasses address slippage with hydrophilic rubber nose pads that actually increase grip the more you sweat. For riders who push hard on climbs or ride in heat and get frustrated by glasses sliding down the nose, this is a meaningful feature. Combined with the rimless shield's airflow, which helps reduce fogging, the Rail XC is built to stay put through high-exertion efforts rather than needing constant adjustment. That keeps your focus on the road or trail instead of your eyewear.

Riders who ride through shifting light, in and out of tree cover or dawn-to-daylight, and don't want to stop and swap lenses should choose the Crystal Clear frame of the Rail XC Bike Sunglasses, which carries the Fototec lens that rapidly darkens and lightens on its own. If you'd rather not check frame variants and want photochromic performance guaranteed in the box, the Moab XC Fototec Sunglasses or Moab Lite Fototec Sunglasses are Fototec-equipped by default, so there's no risk of selecting the wrong frame.

The Rail XC Bike Sunglasses are not offered with a polarized lens in either frame. Glare handling depends on which tint you choose, whether that's a fixed lens from the Crystal Smoke set or the Fototec lens in the Crystal Clear frame. If reducing glare from wet pavement, water, or bright flat light is a priority for you, consider the Sanctum SL Polarized Sunglasses, which are built specifically to cut glare. Riders whose main concern is UV protection and changing light, rather than glare, are well served by the Rail XC.

The Rail XC Bike Sunglasses are for riders who want full peripheral coverage at speed and value all-day comfort. The super wide, rimless shield gives an unobstructed field of view on road or trail, the lightweight Grilamid TR-90 frame stays comfortable over long hours, and all lenses are shatterproof, scratch-resistant, and block 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays. They're ideal if you want to decide between a self-adapting Fototec lens or an interchangeable set you tailor to each ride, and don't mind a larger frame.

The lenses on the Rail XC Bike Sunglasses are scratch-resistant and shatterproof for long-term durability, but they still benefit from careful handling. Rinse them with water to clear grit before wiping, then use a soft lens cloth rather than a shirt hem to avoid fine scratches. If you have the Crystal Smoke frame with three interchangeable lenses, store the lenses you aren't using in a protective pouch so they stay clear and ready to swap. Proper storage keeps every tint performing at its best over seasons of riding.
