product care
Remove your tights and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Reviews

Thermal bike 🚲 pants.

"True to size and warm. Wore them on a 50 mile ride."

— Mary L. (5/5)

Great Fit!

"I read many reviews about the fit. I was concerned BUT when I got it and tried it on--it really fit me well. I am 5'6", 145. I have long legs. The length was great and a good weight to cycle in 40 degree temps. I ordered a large."

— Terri W. (5/5)

The pants are very comfortable

"The pants are very comfortable and kept me comfortable in 40 degrees weather. I found the pad was comfortable for a 18 miles bike ride. I don’t ride over 20 miles so I can’t speak for anything over that. The waist band was comfortable and stayed up."

— Debra B. (5/5)

Biking tights

"I ordered large bike long pants and I couldn’t get them on. I am 140 pounds and 5’4” and usually wear medium or large but these were absolutely too tight."

— Ramona K. (1/5)

Good winter tights

"Bought this tight for winter riding in Tennessee. I have only worn them once in upper 40's temps. They were fine. I believe They would be fine in lower temps, like upper 30's. . I am 5'5" tall and weigh 115 - 120 pounds. I ordered a small and they just fit. I could have ordered a medium and been happy. These do not run as small as the Italian brands. I usually size up, this time I took a chance on a small and they are fine. The chamois is good for me, no problems there. The quality is good. I am happy with this purchase. One weird thing is they take a long time to dry. Give them 2 days to hang dry."

— PATRICIA K. (5/5)

The Thermal Bike Tight is

"The Thermal Bike Tight is proportioned for someone with thin legs, which is not me. The legs were too tight and the seat too loose, actually sagging down over the back of the legs. I returned them and instead ordered another pair of my favorite tights, the Winter Bike Tights, which conforms to any shape."

— Eva V. (2/5)

Would buy 2 sizes larger in future

"Warm tight, great fabric. I'm 5'8" and 142 lbs, usually a Medium in pants but this runs small so I got a Large - almost too small still, and legs are short! But I'll use them anyway since my first and only thermal tights so far."

— Ann S. (3/5)

Nice warm tights

"I've tried these a couple of times now in low 30 degree weather & low wind chills and was sufficiently warm. (Oddly, occasionally the backs of my thighs would feel a little cool if the wind was blowing sideways beneath them as I peddled.) The fit seemed a little off in the upper thigh, maybe a little too tight (or maybe that's just my anatomy) but didn't affect my comfort or ability to peddle. I intend to keep wearing them for my cold weather rides."

— Nadine S. (5/5)

I love my new cold

"I love my new cold weather tights. They fit great and are very comfortable. I also love the side pocket which is large enough for phone, gloves etc"

— Paul W. (5/5)

Soft and Warm

"Love these tights. They keep my legs warm but not too warm and are so soft inside. I always wear a medium in Terry bottoms but needed a large in these."

— Susan N. (5/5)

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Thermal Bike Tight is built for riders tackling genuinely cold weather who want to stay warm without overdressing. Its brushed-interior main fabric traps warmth and keeps you comfortable riding down into the 30°F range. This places it in the thermal tier of Terry's cold-weather lineup — warmer than cool-weather tights but tuned for standard cold rather than extremes. If your rides routinely dip into sub-freezing conditions, consider the Winter Bike Tight, which is built for more severe cold.

No — the Thermal Bike Tight is an all-in-one solution for riders who prefer not to layer. It comes with the integrated Fleet Chamois, a seamless pad with four-way stretch Elastic Interface Technology made in Italy. Soft wing construction reduces bulk at the inner thigh to prevent chafing. Because the chamois is built in, you should not wear padded shorts underneath. If you already own padded shorts and want only a thermal outer layer, the padless Padless Winter Bike Tight is designed to go over your existing shorts.

The Thermal Bike Tight is water-repellant and wind-resistant, which means it handles light moisture, spray, and exposed cold rides well — but it is not waterproof for sustained rain. Riders who regularly face steady, soaking conditions will stay drier in a dedicated waterproof garment like the Lupra GORE-TEX Bike Pant. Think of the Thermal Bike Tight as cold-and-breezy protection with light weather resistance, not a rain pant. For dry or lightly damp cold rides, its smooth-faced fabric does the job well.

The choice comes down to how cold your riding gets. The Coolweather Bike Tight suits the milder 40–60°F range of fall and spring, with moderate insulation and a built-in chamois. The Thermal Bike Tight adds a brushed interior for warmth down into the 30°F range, plus a wind-resistant, water-repellant face fabric for exposed cold rides. If most of your riding happens in cool-but-not-cold conditions, the Coolweather is right; when temperatures genuinely drop, the Thermal Bike Tight earns its place.

The Thermal Bike Tight is best suited to short-to-moderate cold-weather rides. Its Fleet Chamois is designed to provide just enough cycling comfort without bulk, prioritizing a slim, chafe-free feel over high-volume support. Riders logging long endurance or touring days in the cold tend to want more chamois cushioning underneath them for hour after hour. If that describes your riding, the Coolweather Tour Bike Tight offers a touring-grade chamois with more padding built for extended time in the saddle.

The Thermal Bike Tight offers full-length coverage with a 29-inch inseam and elastic-free leg bands that stay put without digging in. The two-inch elastic-free waistband sits at a standard height and rides higher in the rear for on-bike coverage when you're leaned forward. This comfort-focused, women-specific construction reflects Terry's decades of designing for women cyclists. If you prefer a higher waist that stays secure during cold-weather riding, the Thermal Hi-Rise Bike Tight uses the same thermal construction with a high-rise waistband.

The Thermal Bike Tight offers moderate compression through a sculpted six-panel flat-seam construction, so it feels supportive and holds its shape without the aggressive squeeze of a high-compression race fit. This makes it a comfortable choice for riders who want a smooth, secure feel on cold rides rather than performance-level muscle compression. If you specifically want a firmer, performance-grade thermal fit with higher compression, Terry's Velocissima Thermal Bike Tight is built around that race-oriented feel.

Yes — the Thermal Bike Tight includes a deep, drop-in pocket on the right hip that easily holds a smartphone. For cold-weather riders who want to carry a phone, keys, or a small essential without wearing a jersey with rear pockets, this adds genuine everyday convenience to an all-in-one thermal tight. It's one of the practical touches that makes the Thermal Bike Tight a strong, feature-rich option for regular cold-season riding.

The Thermal Bike Tight is tuned for standard cold down into the 30°F range, so it's less ideal at the extremes. For sub-freezing or extreme cold, the Winter Bike Tight offers more insulation. For sustained rain, the waterproof Lupra GORE-TEX Bike Pant is the better fit. If temperatures are only mildly cool, the Coolweather Bike Tight is more appropriate, and if you prefer knee-length coverage, look to the Thermal Hi-Rise Bike Capri instead of a full-length tight.
